Interview with Pietro Bartolo, medical doctor in the Italian island of Lampedusa (Sicily)

Pietro Bartolo is the doctor who told us the drama of the landing of thousand of refugee people in Lampedusa island (Sicily) in the documentary film “Fuocoammare” .

The commitment of Pietro Bartolo started in 1991. During these period, he met every single refugee who arrived in Lampedusa.  In these twenty-five years of activity, Bartolo provided assistance to over 250 thousand immigrants, arrived in the island of Sicily in the hope to escape from wars and poverty, in search of a brighter future for themselves and for their children.
